Elysian Courtyards of Gentilly is a 150-home mixed-income community that transformed a 1964 apartment complex severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina into a modern, high-quality residential neighborhood. Through a substantial rehabilitation, RNDC preserved and revitalized the property, creating safe, attractive housing that supports the long-term recovery and growth of the Gentilly community.
Located along Gentilly Boulevard near Dillard University, the community provides residents with convenient access to employment, education, healthcare, public transportation, and neighborhood services. Elysian Courtyards serves households across a range of income levels, reflecting RNDC’s commitment to expanding housing opportunities while strengthening established neighborhoods.
The redevelopment was financed through a combination of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Elysian Courtyards of Gentilly stands as a lasting example of resilient redevelopment, preserving an important community asset while providing quality housing for generations to come.
